The rain was inevitable this week, but it didn’t put any potential purchasers off at the Goffs London Sale on Monday evening. The sale boasts a wonderful venue and there was unlimited discussion about the potential stars to be offered on the eve of Royal Ascot.
There was a strong international sense amongst the purchasers and a vibrant trade. The sale witnessed the first offering worldwide of a mare in foal (LADY PENKO) to Golden Horn who subsequently sold to Ballylinch Stud for £300,000 from the Castlebridge Consignment.
We were delighted to film the English and French horses in training that were entered for the sale. VIREN’S ARMY (Twirling Candy) was our highlight of the evening from the East Everleigh stables when being knocked down to Jono Mills of Darley for £700,000. The three-year-old colt won his debut race of 2016 last month at Chester in the Betdaq Dee Stakes (Listed).
Later on East Everleigh were to strike twice when GREAT PAGE (Roderic O’Connor) realised £300,000. The lovely two year old filly was purchased by Peter & Ross Doyle.
Royal Ascot is now well underway and we have already struck gold with sponsored stable Hugo Palmer with GALILEO GOLD putting in a huge performance when fending off the Coolmore clear favourite THE GHURKA in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes.
We look forward to having some great Sirecam Graduates running, all with realistic chances. The ground is causing obvious concerns for everybody including Her Majesty’s carriages! Later today we have SECRET BRIEF in the Royal Hunt Cup for trainer Charlie Appleby and Wall of Fire tomorrow for the Palmer team in the Britannia Stakes.
We are now fast approaching the Tattersalls July Sale (6th – 8th July) and starting to take bookings now. To book in your draft online please follow the link below:
